After running for a time Windows 98 and to a lesser degree, NT, ME
, XP and Windows2000, your system will start to slow down.
This is caused by
the many installs and uninstall of software and patches that occur
with the day to day operation of Windows.
Some programs don't cleanup
after themselves when removed, older device drivers may still be
running even though they no longer are used. I could have been a bad
install or uninstall.
There are so many minor things that go wrong
they combine to a major slowdown.
Many times the decision to format and reinstall is just a matter of time. The 4-6 hour install is
less that the day or week to troubleshoot the problem.
After all, as a
paying customer which would you rather pay for ? 4 hours or a day or
more?
The time for a install can also be reduced to less than 30 minutes by the use of a
restore
disk .
